Officials in Chatham County Schools are monitoring winter storm conditions set to move into the area on Friday, December 18. As of Thursday morning, the National Weather Service forecast called for a high near 37 degrees, a 90 percent chance of precipitation and snow after 1 p.m. Chatham County Schools will dismiss all students at noon. The majority of district bus routes last less than one hour. The longest routes are in the eastern part of the county. At present, staff is expected to work a full day unless they have already planned to use state furlough time or annual leave. If weather conditions necessitate, the district will re-evaluate and notify employees of any changes. Inclement weather will affect the western part of the county first. The district will continue to monitor weather patterns over the next twenty-four hours and keep the website press release and blog updated as needed.
