Exceptional Children Department Working to Better Serve Non-Verbal Students

The Exceptional Children Department of Chatham County Schools is working with UNC Chapel Hill's New Voices to enhance the educational services for the district's more severe non-verbal students. The E.C. teachers serving these students have received a new curriculum with professional development. The CCS Assistive Technology team is working with New Voices to identify needs and to ensure effective implementation of the strategies recommended.  The overall goal for this project is to give these students an opportunity to make choices and express needs which will enhance their participation in their education and quality of life.
