Gary Leonard was named by the Chatham County Board of Education during its meeting on Monday evening, February 8, to fill the seat in district 4 left vacant when Gerald Totten passed away in December. Leonard spent many years as a teacher and coach in Chatham County Schools and retired from the district in 2007. This term expires in the latter part of 2010.
He will be officially sworn in during the Board meeting on Monday, February 15, at SAGE Academy at 5:45 p.m. before the Board goes into closed session. The regular open session will begin at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the swearing in and the open session at 6:30 p.m.
