Lt. Nunn,
Thank you for your time and for serving our nation. Good luck to you.
Sincerely, Mrs. DeHartchuck's Seventh Grade Social Studies Classes at Horton Middle School
1. Why did you join the Army and how do you feel about your decision now? I joined the Army to serve my country, I felt that I was able and it was the right thing to do. I also wanted to see the rest of the country and parts of the world.
2. How often do you get to contact your family? I talk to my family about once a day either on the phone or on Skype.
3. What is your daily routine? I usually start my day around 0600 and finish at 1000 or 1100pm. I work out in the middle of the day and run in the morning.
4. What is education like in Iraq? It has definitely improved since the US has been here. There are a lot more schools and there are colleges just like in the US.
5. Are you able to be in contact with the average Iraqi citizen? Are they friendly? Yes, we have contact with locals, not as much as we used to, but they are all really friendly.
6. What do you do in your spare time? In my spare time I like to watch movies, workout, play dodgeball, and read.
7. When Iraq is finally at peace, would you like to go back and visit/sightsee? Maybe, but not in the summer. It is way too hot!
8. What type of wildlife have you encountered? There are a lot of camels. Some of the Iraqi tribes are still nomadic so herding camels is still a way that they make their living. There are also sheep, dogs, cats, and camel spiders which are really mean.
9. We are studying the Middle East right now. What are the most interesting things you can tell us that we won't find in a textbook? The Shammal are giant dust storms that can be over a mile high. It looks just like the scene from Return of the Mummy.
10. What is the most memorable moment you have had in Iraq? I think the summer is the most memorable thing since I have been in Iraq. I thought it got hot in NC but 140 degrees is something you won't forget.
New AIG teachers would love some volunteers!!
